need advice on a new barrel
« on: May 27, 2005, 06:00:59 PM »
I am planning on buying a new .223 barrel. I currently have a .223 superlight that shoots adequately for the coyote hunting I do but would like a more accurate barrel for bench shooting. I can't decide between the standard barrel and the bull barrel. I also see that a 24 in. bull barrel may be a possibility. If my new barrel shoots well I may use it for coyote hunting so weight and balance may be a factor. Has anyone had one of these barrels fitted to a superlight? What if any accuracy differences has anyone noticed between these barrels? All comments are appreciated.

I have one of the bull barrel .223s and on any given day it shoots better than i do . groups are alot better than i expected out to 200 yards and the weight and balance are very good , i would not have a problem carring it all day on a yote hunt - and it will just smoke groundhogs

Have carried my 223 UV with 24" bull up some big hills here for yotes and you get used to it.

It shoots dime size groups all the time.
God, Family, and guns, in that order!

Thanks for the input, I'll probably buy the 24 inch heavy barrel. I'll keep the superlight to play with, who knows I may find the magic load that takes it from ok to great.
