Talked to a driver of show trailer for PMC ( Semi Truck and Trailer) today he was parked next to the local gun shop for a sale they are having next weekend. ( This trailer is basically a  gun and ammo store and show case in a semi trailer) He came early to see the country around here. One of the major brands is PMC for this trailer but they have other things too such as optics and guns ect for sale)  I told him that they are missing out of a good sales opportunity if they made milsurp ammo for calibers  as guys are really looking for it for their milsurps as factory ammo and reloadable components ect. I told him I would buy it just to get the reloadable brass. He told me that they are having enough problems makeing what they have now due to the war and getting materal for components due to the wars in Iraq and Afganistan. So a word to the wise folks you reload you may want to stock up of a few extra primers or powder and what ever brass and bullets you need. I have seen on a few sites guys saying components are going up in price and wondering if this is the reason. I guess it looks like that is the reason. JIm

Your a little behind here I have been saying to stock up for the past few years on surplus ammo, new ammo thats on sale or clearance and on primers, powder, cases and bullets. This could turn into a real problem if you depend on reloading only because your putting all your eggs in one basket too.  I like to shoot a combination of different stuff  like new, surplus and reloads.   There are still affordable supplies out there we just have to shop around for them I found 30cal 147gr FMJ bullets for $59/1,000rds.  just lastweek.  There is a lot of sales right now on gun powder and primers too we just have to shop around for them.  We still have the cheap affordable surplus ammo for a while but its drying up too and the imported new ammo too. If the price of components gets out of wack that maybe the way to go too just buy the new imported ammo.  I can remember when we had the surplus stuff runout before and its not going to happen to me again.  I was stocked up then but others were caught with their pants down because the 7,62x39 was a new caliber and no one made it except for the import of it.  My point is if you think in any way its going to remain like this, like were all sitting back fat dumb and happy with the flood of everything right now it can change overnite i've been there.  Where you put your money right now is up to you but it can make a difference wether you shoot or you can't shoot because of no ammo thats up to you.                                              BigBill

S.Sumner was right its time to buy ammo he said it a while back.

If your not reloading its time to get started too while the stuff is still affordable.  You can get a reloading kit in either the LEE brand or RCBS I use both of their products with no problems.  I like that little Lee press ($18) for assembly because its open access for assembling/seating the bullets and i like my RCBS rockchucker press for resizing.  You can't beat the prices on the Lee Dies either I use some of the RGB $10 Lee dies too besides the Pacesetter ones too.  Lee also has some great other products too for priming.  Lets face it with the high price of oil right now it will drive the price everything up that we use everyday.

I am reloading and have eough lead to cast bullets for a long time. I do need to get more powder and primers though but on my limited income that is easier said than done. Jim

I was shooting a lot and reloading heavy in the mid 70's.  Then i slowed down to raise a family.  It seems i reloaded about every 10 years when my supply ran low.  I was hardley shooting at all maybe a few times and hunting thats it.  But my point is now the prices has gone up so much on supplies since the mid 70's its very costly now.  Its not so cheap anymore like it once was in the 70's.  The new jacketed bullets has taken a jump in price too and they have split the amount they give us too like we get just 50rds for the higher price instead of the 100rds we once recieved at a lower price.  Am i missing something??  I don't purchase any of the high priced so called special 50rd bullets.  I'm trying the winchester 30cal PP bullets now their $11 for 100rds. for my 7mm & 308 hunting rounds. I'm using remington bullets in my 6,5 swede 140gr PSP i think their around $10 for 100rds too.  I'm sure they will do the job.  I'm not cheap i'm frugal and on a fixed income too so i/we have to get the most bang for our buck if we want to continue to shoot.                      BigBill

 I buy my moly coated cast bullets from Bear Creek Supply its like $37/500rds w/free shipping for my handguns. Since i'm not getting any leading in my handguns I'm going to try some in my 444 marlin next to see if i get any leading.  I think it just maybe possible to try a hotter load with the moly.
