My choice is to call in the summer and do it in the late evening and/or at night.  Lawdog

I usually stop hunting them in the summer.

Unless you have unlimited hunting areas, I wouldn't suggest hunting/calling them year round.  They'll get smart and all of your spots will dry up.
You haven't hunted......Until you've hunted the hunters

Coopershooter.

Most of the Varmint Hunters in my area hunt coyotes in the late fall and winter. The bitches has their young in the summer months and i don't like to kill them then unless you have a problem with live stock predation.
In the summer time we shoot p-dogs and sharpen our skills on paper. Yea i know not very exciting huh, But killing a bitch with pups in the den don't do much for me, Thats Just My opinion.............Joe...........

This is one of my favorite times of the year for hunting those guys.  The does will be dropping their fawns and the coyotes will be eating them.  You only have to see a couple of coyotes eating a fawn as it is being born that you want to be out there with you fawn in destress call.  The coyotes get a bang out of it.

I know a couple of guys that are having some good luck with the fawn in distress calls.  Again, because of the warmer weather, they will be the most active at night.
It's all a hot mess...........
