Now I've gone and done it.
« on: February 18, 2003, 07:37:42 AM »
I have been acquiring barrels of the last few months and as I get one I get a scope mount and scope it.  I have been taking off the rear sites & sometimes the front ones and putting them in a box.

Now the other day I get a 14" 44 Mag barrel (not sure if I am gonna keep it or not) but it came without sites and so I figured I would hang one of the sets I took off on it.

So I open the box and noticed that there are 3 different height blades on the rear site (only have one front).

Don't know why I didn't notice this before, too excited to get the new barrel and scope mounted I guess.

Can someone tell me or direct me to a link to figure out which rear site goes with which caliber or does anyone know the height of the rear blade and height of the front blade for the 14" 44 mag barrel?

Thanks,
DonT

The longer the barrel the shorter the front site. That is generally speaking, If the caliber was the same for all barrels. Different calibers may use different hights because of muzzle rise differences. You'll probably have to try one and see where it shoots and change if you need to. I believe there are 3 different hights but I could be wrong.  KN

Contact TC and see if they will tell you which sight to use.

I found this partial list, but I'm afraid it doesn't have the info you are looking for.  I know I have seen a more complete list somewhere, but I can't seem to find it or remember where I saw it, sorry.

Look in a T/C catalog or the Fox Ridge catalog (I know Fox Ridge has a chart).  They sell replacement sights and there is a chart that gives the barrel lengths and calibers and what blade height is used for each.
