No, not quite awesome, but functional and with clean lines.

Here's a quick cad drawing of it (simplified - add your own embellishments).

These dimensions are according to the good rules-of-thumb.

Note the two places internally for the radii.  These are to add strength by eliminating stress risers.

Here's another pix of handgonne musings.  Not histerically accurate, but functional toys.

The one by the lead alloy slug is about 20ga.; not fitted for a tiller.

Largest is 4140 and in golf-ball caliber.

I still think those are all awesome! I decide I'm making a (not so historically accurate) hackenbuchse. I'm using an old bow wing as a taper, idk what to use for barrel bands. and for the hook, its going to be a curved roof spike.... or, option 2, the classic stock shape, same hook... any ideas for bands?

WHen I taught machine design and jig and fixture design, my design assignments required 3 different designs to achive the same purpose.  Each one submitted and I would discuss and review them with each student.  By the third design there was some headache pain but the designs were much more elegant and simpler than the beginning ones.  What you see pictured is experimentation.  Think it through.  Do your homework.

Since you're likely to have lots of time to finish this project, see if your school or the local community college have any machine tool technology (machinist training) classes and enroll in one if you can.  Knowing what the machines can do gives you a heads up on how to design things.

Don't let some biased adult (like a school "guidance" counselor) try to convince you that "manufacturing is a dead industry in this country" and you should take another "liberal arts" class instead.  There are lots of highly degreed people in the work force who are working in fields totally unrelated to their degrees and making a lot less money than they were led to expect by the education establishment when they were pushed toward "something they liked" as a college major instead of something there was demand for.

So what's the problem?  Post some drawings or pix.  Maybe we can help.

You have it all wrong  ;)!  AApch1 , you should sit and think about the size and shape and then sketch out something you like and then ask Dom to make one to your specs....more or less .

He will do it within reason and you will be safe and LOVE it .
