Recommendation for Creedmore sight for my Sharps
« on: May 31, 2005, 12:46:42 PM »
I bought a new Taylor Sharps rifle about a month ago. First I want to say I am very pleased with the rifle so far. It has excellent fit and finish and everything works smooth. The adjustable set trigger is a dream.

I ordered an inexpensive long range sight at the time I bought the rifle, and am less than satisfied with it. In fact, I'm returning it to the manufacturer and requesting they send me another one with less free play when the sight is upright. I'm a FFL dealer so I got it at dealers cost. I figure when I get it back, I'll sell it on ebay or someplace and at least get most of my money back out of it.

Now, how much do I need to spend to get a sight that I'm going to be happy with? I've seen them advertised for over $400, and that's a lot of dough in my opinion for just a sight.

Is there a good Creedmore sight in the $200 or so range that's a good solid one? Or do I need to bite the bullet and spend the $400 in order to be satisfied?

Go to Jeff's Outfitters web site. Take a look at the Pedersoli Soule type long range vernier sight. It runs about $179 I believe, and is a good sight for the money. It's not quite as nice as the same MVA sight, but I think you'll be more than satisfied with it, as it isn't sloppy, or loose.
Which sight are you having problems with?

I've got the Italian made standard Long Range Creedmore sight imported by Taylor's.

Check out Lee Shaver.  I got his midrange sight on my roller and am pleased with it.
