G2 Contender 44 Magnum 12" Barrel
« on: June 02, 2005, 06:35:13 AM »
Been thinking about this being my first T/C.
What kind of accuracy could I expect out to 100 yards?
I currently hunt with a 1894 P and love the 44 Mag performance
on deer and hogs.  The 1894 P is very accurate and wonder if the same is possible from the T/C.  I suspect it will be. I want to get into the handgun hunting world
exclusively.

I have or have owned over a dozen T/C pistol barrels and only one would not put three shots into an inch at 100 yards. That one was a 22lr that I did not work with very much and sold after a short time. None of my barrels have been for straight walled cartridges but I have shot more one hole groups with my T/C barrels than all other guns combined. I also shoot them on paper a lot more. I use a 7x scope for load development.

I would think with proper load development and a steady hand you should be able to get 1" or smaller groups with boring regularity.
Good luck.

I have shot my TC .44 Mag at 25, 50 and 100 yards and experienced great groups.  I had this one uploaded of a target at 50 yds.

This was a four shot group.  It is one of my best shooters and I am very pleased with it.
Just another voice in the crowd!!!

I personally do not like .44 mag. barrels on Contenders. They hurt my middle finger everytime I shoot one. I much prefer the Encore for the .44 mag., handles the recoil much better. I have 3 Contender frames and 2 Encore frames and no idea how many barrels, but the .357 is the largest I shoot in a Contender. Anything larger goes in an Encore frame.
