anyone shoot a .221 FB in a contender?

i have a 21in. .22k-hornet contender carbine. and i have a remington 722 in .222 rem.
  dont know if i need a .221 FB.  but i want one?!
  is it an easy cartrige to reload for? whats the good and the bad?

The fireball is an easy cartridge to load for.  You can get around 2600-2700 fps from a 10" barrel and 50 gr bullets and quite a bit more with lighter ones.  In a carbine length barrell it doesn't really give up all that much to the .223 and powder charges are low.  It's a very strong case with good case life, and cases are readily available in bulk from Midway.  Go for it!

I shoot a Bullberry 16 1/2" .221 most of the time setup as a carbine. With a case full of RL-7 and a 40 gr. vmax it makes an excellent 300 yds. prairie dog rig.
