Winchester 100 ?
« on: June 03, 2005, 05:01:19 PM »
Any of you guys use or mess around with one. I sure like the way they fit. A buddy has one that functions without a hitch an shoots 3 shot groups 1 1/2 on a regular basis. How do they compare to the Remington 7400 ?
I have two Bar's and they are the best but a little heavy.

I had a Model 100 in 308 that jammed. What a shame because I think they are a nice rifle. I like the look and feel of them alot. A friend of mine has one in 308 that functions flawlessly. The owner of a gunshop that I used to go to had a couple 100's in 284 and he told me he never had any problems with them either. He used to shoot the 125 gr load that Winchester made. A lighter bullet may help out. The comment he made was that if the rifle started jamming, there was one spring you had to change. What spring I don't know, but this what he said.

Win 100:
Solid gun. Mine shoots 3" groups.
The one thing i don`t like about is that it`s heavy(for me). With a scope and a clip full of shells that puppy will test you.
I only use mine when the weatherman is calling for rough conditions(rain, snow etc) As you can see it`s not one of my favorite guns. Too
  dam(n) heavy!
You may like it though.  Life is good.
