Who makes bullets for the 7.62x39?
« on: June 04, 2005, 05:48:20 AM »
I just bought a arsenal arms ak-47. I'm interested in reloading some hunting rounds for it and also someone here mentioned making a poor man's whisper out of this cartridge. I assume the bore is .310. I haven't measured it yet but certainly will.  Who makes bullets in the bore and does anybody have any load data for it? Thanks.
I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, and I won't be laid a hand on; I don't do these things to other people and I require the same from them.

Dave ///hornady , speer and winchester all make bullets for the .310 bore i'm sure there are others - i don't load for this round so you might check some of the powder companys they all have load data on their web sites.

good luck

You might be able to use bullets designed for .303 British, if not jacketed, then cast. I don't know, just my 2 cents, jd45.

Yes, you can use 303 bullets and Sierra, Speer, Hornady, Remington all make them.

You may want to try .308 bullets also. My chinese has a .313 bore but still shoots some .308 bullets better than the steel cased stuff.

Here's your data http://stevespages.com/310_1.html

The Sierra 125 grain .311 works well for me. So do cast gas check bullets sized .313 or so.
