Where can I find info. on Contenders ie. old, new type barrels - what is the difference between a hunter and a super barrel. When did they change the trigger mechanism?
I guess what I am asking for is a history of the changes made to the Contender.

eastsider,
Been trying to put it together myself. Got info from Ed, the factory, and a number of other places. (never have been able to figure out what "TC List" is). For Frame production dates:
http://www.handgunhunt.com/noframes/tech/t1/manuf_bl_tc.html
barrel types (and explanations):
http://www.singleshooters.org/shearer.htm
barrel production dates:
http://www.prairienet.org/guns/tc/barrel.htm
If I ever get it all in one spreadsheet I'll post it so it can be downloaded.

A super 14 barrel is 14" long full bull (.81").  The hunter barrel is 14" long but has T/C's muzzle break on it.

Helobill gave you links to production dates.

T/C changed the trigger to easy open around 195000.  There was an earlier change in the trigger group but I'm not sure when.

In the '80's, T/C produced AA or chrome plated frames and barrels.  They will not fit blued/stainless unless the hinge pin hole is enlarged.  The frame serial numbers begin with 'A'.  T/C came out with stainless frames in '93.

The TC-L is a e-mail list that was on net at prairienet but has since moved to the Yahoo site

So if a contender frame starts with Serial 301xxx it is easy open?  I ask because I am pondering a purchase.

Thanks
