Removing Inserts from CARBON ARROWS

Today I picked up 6 Easton 340 Carbon Arrow from Gander Mountain or I should say four good and two free ones that where screwed up by guy in the pro-shop. He epoxy the first two with the Inserts flush , not recessed in. It was last box of 340, so he offered them @ 31 instead of $49.
He, had cut the Arrows down, so shorting them again isn't a option.
So my question is how do loosen the epoxy, with out ruining the carbon
shaft ? I know if this was Aluminum arrow I would just heat the shaft.
Does Acetone soften Carbon ?............what's my option ?

Hi littleMagnum.I have pulled out carbon inserts by heating the tip of a target tip.Use a small flame for about a couple of minutes.DONT over heat,start to pull straight out,if not loose try again.The chemicals are not the way to go,they will weken the shafts bonding gluesof the carbon shafts.I have done this many times on broken shafts,it WORKS,just be carefull,and go slow.PS.The target tip has to be inserted in the arrow when you do this.Good luck.pan

if the above doesnt work easily.  you can freeze the arrow for a day or two.  then remove it and stand it strasight up still cold....tap the feild point a few times with a hammer lighty....the key word is lightly here.

some epoxies get brittle with cold.  if you hear the snap of epoxy breaking...it worked but may still be difficult to remove.  retry the heat method since the bond is broken.

Panman...That worked !... thanks, that gave me two free Easton AXIS 340 arrows ! I screwed on a long field tip, and used a torch on just  the tip and when the end of the arrow shaft got just hot enough to say ouch, I pulled the tip and insert out..........Thanks again !
