Sighting in problem with bisley blackhawk
« on: February 18, 2003, 02:41:34 PM »
I purchased one of the 5.5in stainless bisley blackhawks. I like the gun but it shoots low with both cowboy loads and hot corbons. It seems to me that I need a lower front sight.  Has anyone else had this problem? Ruger said that the bisley had the tallest sight they made so they can send me a shorter one, but I ordered a second blackhawk from Ray's today and would like them to match.

time to get out the file...my buddies does the same thing, no matter what load i put in it...a session at the range with the load you're gonna shoot most and a file will do it, if you're confident doing it....

I was having trouble sighting in using 300 grain cast loads in my 5-1/2 SS Blackhawk. I sent the gun to Bowen Classic Arms with a few loaded rounds for testing. They installed a custom pinned in front sight blade for heavy and light loads. I also had them install thier custom rear sight. Sights are now total functional with all loads.
