Will Ultra Scope Base fit Handi-Rifle?
« on: June 06, 2005, 07:33:20 AM »
I phoned NEF and asked if the Ultra scope base would fit my SB2-2S3 stainless Handi Rifle.  I was assured that it would but was mailed a standard Handi-Rifle base like that already on my rifle.  I sent it back with a letter stating that I wanted an Ultra base if it would fit my Handi and to cancel my order if it wouldn't.  NEF has canceled the charge on my credit card statement and has not mailed an Ultra base.  I keep seeing posts that make me believe that the Ultra and the Handi bases mount on the same holes drilled above the chamber.  Is this correct?  Would like some real world info before I call NEF again.

It appears that NEF has been sending the wrong scope bases freqently lately.  I got two standard bases when I ordered my Ultra barrel plus an extra Ultra base, and I've seen lots of similar mistakes posted here.

I think the guy at the factory that used to strip the but pad screws got transfered to the scope rail dept, and now he's screwing that up too.

Don't worry, the only advantage of having the Ultra rail is that you can mount your scope further forward because the rail is longer.  The extra set screw is just something that can cause problems down the line, and it serves no real purpose.  I kept my standard rail and never looked back.
