New Remington Model 700 LSS
« on: June 06, 2005, 09:52:57 AM »
I have recently expressed my dislike of the Remington SPS model in stainless steel.  To reiterate, I feel it is lack luster and sloppy.  The bolt is not Jewelled and it looks like it was finished with a bead blaster shooting #7 bird shot.  Quite unpleasant.   I was very excited for this rifle to come out because when I was 14 years old, 1994, I purchased my first Remington Rifle, a model 700 BDL SS in .243 Win.  After owning this rifle for  about 7 years I had some debt to pay and sold it.   Dumb, Dumb, Dumb...   So as things go Remington did not make another stainless .243 Remington until This year.   Then came the SPS stainless...boy was I disappointed...  Well, a month after being upset and deciding that I was going to buy a Sako...(the only other rifle I feel compares) I was checking the Remington website and behold to my very eyes Remington is producing a  Brown Laminated .243 Win with a 24" SS barrel with a Satin Finish.  Now hopefully this one turns out to be a good one.  I have already saved the money for it.  Unfortunately the gun will not be released until the fall.  I am very excited about this.

For anyone else who is interested here is the link.

Exactly why I have searched high and low for an ADL with a blued 24" barrel in a .270 caliber, walnut satin finish .  The SPS seems , to say the least, an afterthought......a way to  compete with some  low end synthetics.  Hope you r wait goes by quickly, and if anyone has a walnut 700 ADl with a satin finish, blued, .270 caliber....let me know...

this LSS??

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=3170145&cat=170108&type=21&dept=4125&path=0%3A4125%3A4155%3A170080%3A170083%3A170108

looks the same to me. Walmart has had them for a while, but they no longer have any 7mm mags in stock and arent getting any either   they have the Ultra but I have no desire for that. I might break down and get the .300 Win Mag.

If not the same one, I apoligize in advance for being confused.

Even if I do that, it would only be used for hunting on rare occasions and take a back seat to my VLS. Thats the problem with falling inlove and getting a very accurate rifle like the VLS. All of the other guns in ones collection get ignored afterwards  atleast thats what happens to me. The AR and shotguns come out for some fun times, and the Sig gets shot just to stay accurate for self defense purposes, but I could put round after round thru the VLS all day and night and never get tired of her.

Yeah, I guess you could say that is the same one but for two things.  It appears that the new finished LSS does not have a gloss stock.  Though the pic you posted does not look like it has one either.  Who knows.  Also, the New LSS has a brown Laminated stock not a grey one.  Those are the differences.  Sorry about not being able to get 7mm Mag.  The 300 would be a nice alternative.
