I was wondering......
« on: June 07, 2005, 05:43:55 PM »
Hey all, I was thinking about buying a Remington Model 7400 in .30-06.

I hope this is not a dumb question to ask, but, the 7400 is not a AW is it? I mean it does have a detach mag. . I know it is a hunting rifle, but, what does the semi-auto fall under?

Thanks for any help.

AW?  It's a semi automatic, clip magazine fed, gas operated rifle.  Lot's of people have these.  I have one.  They are not made for the avid shooter as 2000 rounds or so is considered the life of the rifle........the receiver wears every time it's shot........... fine for they guy who shoots a few rounds each year checking the zero, then hunts.......

Most, including mine, are more than adequate for the average deer hunter.....it is not a tack driver, but will average about 2" groups at 100 yards.   Mine's a .270.  The barrel heats up fast and feed problems have occured on mine with a hot barrel and dirty chamber.

They do point much like a shot gun and are very fast to get mounted and are very quick for second shots.

Search the forum on 7400.....lots of previous posts..........some really like the gun, but there are a fair amount of negative posts as well.........
