Glock and Ballistic Fingerprinting?
« on: February 19, 2003, 02:16:47 AM »
Maybe this has already been addressed here but on Sunday, 02/09/03, I happened to be watching part of 60 Minutes, which I hardly ever watch, and I believe that I heard the CEO of Glock in the U.S. say that Glock had no problem on ballistic fingerprinting. Could someone tell me if I heard this correctly? I was meaning to ask this question last week but I forgot to post it then, it just came back to me now....this is what happens as you get older.

I saw the same show, and saw the same thing.  Glock probalby doesn't care much about it, since it doesn't work anyway.  Fingerprints don't change, ever.  On guns, use and wear can cause things to change, replacing componets changes things, and anyone can take a file to manipulate the 'fingerprint'.  I guess they just go ahead, put the fired test bullet in the packaging, and let Maryland, and any other state that wants to waste money cataloging a brass cartridge do it.  The same story reported that the 'fingerprinting' process had resulted in the capture of NO criminals.  All it does is help trace the gun back to the original purchaser, and the paperwork already does that.

Just my thoughts....
