Need suggestions on good 357 trapper load
« on: June 11, 2005, 02:03:43 PM »
I've had this trapper sitting in the safe for sometime now. The grand kids are starting to shoot and I would like a load ready to go when they are. Range wont be past 50 to 75 yards. Any suggestions on a proven load would help.

The best all around load I've found so far is...

7.5g of Unique
125g Remington SPs(bulk/Midway)
CCI 450 primers

I've been shooting this load for a long time, and it's proven very accurate in several different rifles, and revolvers. It's not a stout load. It's pretty much a "powder puff" load as far as recoil. It does do great on small to medium critters up to coyote sized if you're looking for a good hard hitting, fur friendly load though. I've even used it on squirrels, and rabbits quite a bit.

In my 1894C it averages around 1500 fps. This load costs me just under $4.00 per 50 minus the brass when I buy 2000 bullets at a time from Midway.

Hope this helps...
