has anybody ever went out of state to trap if so what do you do to start prepareing for it. traps how many, lure how much etc. i'm going to texas this winter after cats and coyotes.

I have trapped out of state twice in the last few years.Best thing I ever did,was hang up a list and add to it every time I thought of something.
 Now while I did some land trapping,the bulk of my sets were for Beaver,coon and otter.I took a gallon each of my beaver lures--that way I never worried about running out.It is better to take more of everything,than to get down there,and find out you forgot something or you run out.

thank you for the welcome bogmaster, i'm very excited to talk to trappers  that have done this stuff before. I have a place to stay down there should a guy put up fur there or try to skin and, freeze to bring home. Bogmaster what kind of lure do you sell that you would recomend, i'm trapping by san angelo texas.

If you have the time,it is probably easier to put your fur up down there.But if you will be pressed for time,skinning and freezing will work well.
 Lures that will work well--Lenons cat and canine lures,Blackies cat and canine lures,Wolfers KB1 and KB2 and as a good change of pace,my Moundmaster #1 beaver lure has put yotes and cats on the stretchers of several of my customers.

Thank you for your reply tom. I'm going to be useing #3 bridgers with base plate, conners shocks,4coiled, laminated, reg jaw. I'm thinking about putting on paws i trip pans what's your take on that. And i'll be useing amberg snares,what kind of bait should I bring, I have acess to lot's of beaver meat, muskrat, rabbit, etc. I'm not worried about urine, I have a penned cat and fox.

I have never used the paws i trip pans,so I can't give forst hand knowledge on them.
 As far as bait goes---you can never go wrong with beaver.

I've trapped in 7 states.

I always enjoyed it best when I rented a house and had a good shower and cooking facilities.

The trailer thing isn't bad if you can find a place with power for a freezer and electric lights.

It's nice to have a commissary trailer for supplies.
