Just tried out my new Pietta brass framed 1851 Confederate navy revolver. after the first cycle the frame stained up redish tea colored in places. I figured that would clean out with the wash up since the brass is generally sprayed with a varnish when new. I don't want to use an abrasive like flitz yet if I don't have to. Any remidies to keep it up. Thanks in advance JB

Well you could let it pattina up to look more authentic or use Brasso, it's what I use on my brass frame Henry when I want to dress it up. It's a very mild abrasive, easier on the metal than Flitze.

Right, any good brass or silver polish will do it, Brasso being one of them.

LET IT COLOR UP!!!

over time it will take on a character all its own. makes for a more "gooder" looking '51.

my own '51 is just beautiful. never have tried to take out the color.
