I just put together my second 30 PPC rifle using a Ruger #1 that I had a buddy install a heavy Hart barrel with 1-14 twist--22inches long. This barrel on another gun put 5 shots into .058" center to center @ 100 yds. On a normal day good groups run .250"-.350". I was shooting up some old mediocre ammo with a friends 12 yr old son. From a rest he hit a steel pig at 200yds 18 out of 20 times. The load--a RCBS 130 gr gas check bullet powered by 6.0 grs of Titegroup. Most accurate load to date is 125 gr Berger/27.0 grs 2015/Fed 210 gold medal. This gun is really fun to shoot!

Forgive my ignorance what would the difference of the .30 PPC be from a 7.62x39AI?

I'll take a wild guess and say you'd use a PPC headspace gauge instead of a 7.62 X 39 with .004 ground off? Sounds like they'd be dang near the same thing though. And I want one! It ought to be a neato cast bullet rifle.

Nobade--you got it right, 6 PPC headspace gauges, necked out to 30 cal. I'm working on casr bullet loads. Looks like I need about a 140 gr bullet. Clymer made the reamer and Hornady made the dies.

I had a 7.62x39 done up with a 30cal 1/18 twist barrel barrel uses BIB 118gr bullets. Used a Pacific reamer and they furnished the gauges also. Great shooter.
