Ban Stupid People Not ATVs
« on: June 12, 2005, 09:05:36 PM »
The same stupid people that got the government to protect them from three wheelers, by taking them away from everyone, are at it again.  Now they want the government to protect them from all 4-wheel ATVs.  They will keep at it till they get all ATVs banned, if something is not done about it.

No three wheelers were not dangerous, if the rider used a little common sense and understood their inherent instability.  They had one great advantage over 4-wheelers, weight!  Two of them could easily be hauled in a small boat up a river, or acrose a lake.  With a 4-wheeler the same boat can only haul one, and it's a heck of a lot harder to load and unload.  An 85 Honda Big Red 250 commands a big price here, and there is quite a few around.  All are being rebuilt and kept in working shape, by all means possible.

Now I've seen an article where congressmen have been asked to support a ban on 4-wheeled ATVs.  The people say that they did not realise how dangerous they were when they bought them and gave them to their children, just like they did with the three wheelers.  The movement I read about, the idea was that telling the people that they are dangerous for children is not enough.  These people want them banned just like the three wheelers.  That would be disastrous for alaskans where they are the only means of transportation in many villages.  And the only sensiable means of reaching remote areas of the state.
Where is old Joe when we really need him?  Alaska Independence    Calling Illegal Immigrants "Undocumented Aliens" is like calling Drug Dealers "Unlicensed Pharmacists"
What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

there was an article on this in the main liberal news rag here in Houston, Tx last week.  Before long we will see roll bars on ATV's or air bags or something.  Some folks are just a bit too dumb to be riding ATV's, but the majority of us are responsible enough to handle them properly and so are our children.   There was an adult killed on one West of Houston about 2 weeks back.  He was riding in a group with his girlfriend on back and hit  a tree stump in high grass.  No reason to outlaw them though.  Some hobbies have a bit of danger that goes along with them.

From a few years ago. This was pinned to the bulletin board at work.

Fatal Accidents: The bright side

Every day some new do-gooder is trying to save us from ourselves. We have so many laws and safety commissions to ensure our safety that it seems nearly impossible to have an accident. The problem is that we need accidents,  and lots of them.
Danger is nature's way of eliminating stupid people. Without safety, stupid people die in accidents. Since the dead don't reproduce, our species becomes progressively more intelligent (or at least less stupid).
With safety, however well-intentioned it may be, we are devolving into half-witted mutants, because idiots, who by all rights should be dead, are spared from their rightful early graves and are free to breed even more imbeciles.
Let's do away with safety and improve our species. Take up smoking. Jaywalk. Play with blasting caps. Swim right after a big meal. Stick something small in your ear. Take your choice of dangerous activity and do it with gusto. Future generations will thank you.

except for the times when the stupid people are the ones who put their kids of grandchildren on an atv that is way too large and powerful for them, or without protective equipment like a helmet.  The poor kid gets hurt or killed and the stupid person doesn't.

The net result is the same.

I wouldn't get too shook about these protect me from myself morons.  When trikes were outlawed the industry was in it's infancy.  If any of you own stock in the manufacturers of todays atvs you are aware of how the industry has grown.  This time they won't be tread on quite so easily, but even so.  Write your congressmen, state representatives and so on every so often just to let them know how you feel.  It can't hurt.

I too see nothing wrong with thinning the population from the shallow end of the gene pool.  I say we need MORE POWER!  And let the chips (or chumps as it were) fall where they may.

My thoughts exactly.  But, you need to look at this a couple steps further.

There is a theory that when one very athletic person procreates with another very athletic person the odds are great that they will produce an equally or better athletic person.  Or, when a very inteligent person procreates with a another very intelegent person they create highly inteligent person.

Soooo, if one stupid person is prevented from killing themselves through their stupid behavior they will inevitably meet up with another stupid person and create very stupid offspring.  I see these people on a daily basis driving on our streets and highways.

If you doubt this theory, the next time you see an accident in the road and the police set up traffic cones to direct traffic around the accident pull into a nearby parking lot, walk over to the sidewalk and watch the passing traffic.  You will see people stop in the middle of the road to ask the police how they can get home if the street is blocked, they lived in their home for years but they can't figure out a second way home.  You will see people stop and stare because they can't change habit and drive around the obstuction in the road.  You will see people drive through, or between, or over the traffic cones because they are just that stupid.  Or you will see people just drive around everything and head north in the southbound traffic lanes.

The gene pool is already contaminated beyond self repair.  Support Darwinism, it is our only chance.
Police Officers support the 2nd Amendment!

so true.  I love the part about the people asking the police stupid questions.  I have experienced that many times.  Here's an example.  A couple years back there was some kind of fire in the underground parking garage of the federal court house in Houston.  I was stationed outside of one of the entrances along with a couple fellow LEO's to keep people out, allow HFD to do their thing.

I can't tell you how many STUPID people had to argue with me about their being important people or lawyers or what evedr and how we were violating trheir rights and making them late for appointments etc.... by not allowing them into the garage.  They kept asking what floor the fire was on, because they were on a different floor and wanted their car!!!!!!

Meanwhile smoke was pouring out of the garage entrance.  STUPID people!  I so wanted to say, sure go ahead and get your car, no problem......

And of course there are the morons who arrive at a large scene, and because they are too stupid to think and or read a map,, they drive over a charged fire hose (firemen really love that )  and past the police cars and fire trucks..... "How do I get home?  Duhhhhhhhh"......LOL
