Supply of ammo warning
« on: June 13, 2005, 09:17:26 AM »
If you haven't noticed the US made supply of 9mm and .223 is running low because of the war in Afganistan and the ongoing war in Iraq we haven't won yet to this day.  I went looking on the net and i have seen warning signs of this with the american ammo manufacturers like remington(UMC) and winchester.  There will be shortages in supplies at certain times from what is said.  If you shoot alot just stock up now the war maybe over soon and we will just pull out like Vietman the other lost cause were we lost american lives for nothing.  I give our service men and women a lot of credit and thanks for those who served over there too let no one be forgotten who served over there and nam else where too.  They didn't have to go but the ones who did serve their country well.   Lets not forget the chicken (censored word) who refused to go too and they try to take the credit for what going on over there too.                                                                            BB

I don't know what all that has to do with ammo.....But...I think you should talk to someone who served in Iraq, and saw it for themselves.  None of the returned soldiers that I have spoken to consider it to be "for nothing" and are proud to have been there fighting for Freedom.
....make it count

Warnings from those companies or from speculating wags? :?

I doubt if there is any impending shortage of either.  Certainly not from my suppliers.

Course a shortage could develop if enough is said about it to trigger hoarding, ala the primer "shortage" a few years back

Its a warning from the ammo suppliers on the net about there maybe interuptions and shortages in the supply of 9mm and .223 due to the ongoing war.                                                       BigBill

Here's one on the 9mm UMC ammo;

www.the-armory.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/handgunammo.html

Schroll down to 9mm UMC and read!!!!!

If you shoot 9mm UMC you better stock up if you can find any.  Of course this shortage may effect the wolf and other imported ammo too with supply and demand it may have everyone scrambling to buy ammo now too since there is a shortage because of the war it just maybe the beginning.

Hey JIM this could be just the tip of the ice berg and the guys on the titanic didn't take heads up either right??  If it goes into full bloom were going to hear a lot of crying then its our turn to ridicule and laugh at them too.  If the american made ammo becomes scarce then the imported ammo is going to take a hit too because the demand will shift there.
JIM most forget I can remember when that new caliber to the US soil(7,62x39) took a hit in the last real ammo shortage when the import stopped years ago!!!!  And the 7,62x54 took a hit too like i said most forget that history repeats itself.  The prices doubled first then you couldn't find any yup they forget it comes with old age.  While most shooters were too young back then to have any knowledge of that happening in the past it can happen overnite.  One supplier is warning us now and i'm sure there will be more too.  He just maybe a high volumne dealer and the first one to see it comming?  But you buddy at PMC you talked with is seeing/hearing it too so something is up right??  Its wether you want to believe it or not or accept its starting to happen right now.  My point of my post is to stock up and be ready for it if you shoot alot.

Well, I'm not trying to ridicule anybody and hope nobody felt that way.  OTOH, this internet we call "the information highway" can be just as well called "the misinformation highway"

I'm a natural skeptic and especially regarding the internet.  I fear that the internet has gone a long way toward replacing knowledge with information.

I repeat here, I am not refereing to any person on this thread or this forum.  Just trying to justify the source of my skepticism.

Hope you all understand.

I'll second what Robert said!!!

I've had the opportunity to participate at a local millitry shooting range for some competitions.  The soldiers I've spoken say the same thing - They don't think it is "FOR NOTHING"!.

To quote some General officer, we're killing terrorists on their ground, not over here. Aside from the idyllic (and impossible) situation of having a war with no casualties among our troops, what could be better?

The MSM just wants to report body count, ours, not the terrorists.

If we pull out like we did in nam when the politicians put their noses into it then it was all for nothing were starting to see them getting involved now and changing there minds about backing GWB.  Soon we will have car bombs here just wait and see since they are here already just waiting to cause problems here.  Didn't you see RED DAWN??  They did we showed them how to get into this country and they are here already its too late to close and tighten up are borders its time to dig in and be ready. We will be takin over from within by the arabs and the mexicans too just wait and see.  The northern borders and the southern borders were left open for too long they are here already.                                 BB

Yeah, and 99.999 percent of them are washing dishes, filling pot holes, riding gargage trucks, etc., etc. :)

I don't want to offend you personally, but Red Dawn was a perfectly ludicrous movie!

Politiicians appropriately have their nose in any U.S. military campaign.  Are you suggesting that the pentagon should make the political and diplomatic decisions for us!

All i'm saying is to let your generals run the show and keep politics out of it let our military people kick @ss thats what they are there and trained for.  If we pull out before the job is done we lose and we put american lives and lost american lives for nothing if the job isn't finished.  We should of listened to General Swartzkof  in the first place he wanted to do it all when we were there the first time.  Since GWB senior didn't finish the job the first time we had to go back there with GWB jr and try to finish it again when it would of been easier the first time with less lost american lives.  Our military personal are doing one hell of a job.  BigBill

When i say look at RED DAWN its the idea of the way they entered the country thru the south on the mexican border just like the arabs and mexicans are doing now.  Think about it there crossing into the US from Canada too.  With 6,000 of them already here that we know about and there's no way we can count how many are here who entered over the north and south borders.  We also lost some arab exchange students too from over there too.  Lets face it their not tourists.  Now the Russians put a whole new light on it too when they said they think there missing about 30 suitcase dirty bombs and maybe more.  So who do you think has them??  Now you say Red Dawn is silly??  If they pulled off 9/11 anything is possible!!!!  There's not enough LEO's to protect us all too think about it. Its just a matter of time to when they hit us again here.  The body count of them is much higher in Iraq but they still keep on comming it makes me wonder were all the weapons they have are comming from? Who is supplying them with weapons.  Russia did say we couldn't win before the war started.

I posted about this several weeks ago also.
I was told by an ammunition manufacturer
(I was at their facility) That the price of metals
has increased sharply in the last few months and
that ammo prices and supplies were going to suffer.

I have been saying what you are saying for the last 10 years
Bill. I also think the American people are starting to forget about 9/11.
Sometimes we are all too optimistic thinking that 9/11 was
just a fluke, The terrorists got lucky and it can't happen again.
Luck had nothing to do with it, they were smarter than us
and busted our Nation Right in the mouth. I guarantee you that
there are infiltrators all over our country that are planning their own strikes against us. We all saw what happened to our economy
then, just think of what the next strike will cause.....

S.Sumner you know why we have not been attacked on American soil again. I have a therory not sure if it is right but I fugure they do not have to attack us again at least not for a while. After the towers and Pentigon were nailed every one was patriotic as hell and get the enemy at all cost. Now that we are losing a few soldiers the liberals and bleeding hearts are tearing this country apart with their peeing and moaning and dividing this country. The Terrorist do not have to attack our country and divide it the liberals and others of that ilk including the press are doing it for the terrorist they can just sit back and watch the chaos. They do not have to attack us we are coming apart ourselves as a nation if this crap keeps up with being divided.  Jim

Damn right. "If you build it they will come" and "if you say it people will listion" The internet in full of a bunch of degenerates that pray on the weak and unedjucated retards. The scary thing is, that when you say something, even if it is false, it get planed into your brain, it plants a seed that starts to grow in the heads of the people with no logic, to the point they start to beleave it.  Perfect example " fairenheit 9/11", Even given Moores track record, people still think he was telling the truth in that movie and people think that movie was real. There is a million Michael Moores on line every second of the day.

You know, every time I listion to most people talk about the laws and government, I feel more dumb, just from reading what people say. I dont hear any logic, only a bunch of drama dariys that have nothing else to do, so, they get over dramatic and bitch about it. If you dont like it and you think guns and ammo is going to get outlawed, find a new hobbie, go collect Barbie dolls or somthing, case closed. Go find a hobbie you do not have to bitch about every day and if you do want to bitch about it, keep it to your self, because people like me and other people with logic really dont care what you have to say.

As far as 9MM ammo and .223 ammo. I get CCI 9mm for $3.86 a box and .223 fed for $3.10 a box.
