6.5 remington mag 700 BDL

A friend of mine has a 700 BDL in 6.5 Remington magnum, he bought new in the early 70s has never shot.  I always thought that the 6.5, was only available in the 600.  Anyone have an idea what its worth as he said he’d sell it to me.  He also has 10 boxes of shells he bought when he bought the rifle.

I'm not sure about the production of the cartridge but even if it's new with 10 boxes of shells I'd expect to pay $650...b/c the shells you figure are about $15 a box if not more nowadays and although some of them might be rusted or whatever...$15 X 10 boxes is about $150. Along with the value of the brand new rifle which actually in today's market could fetch $650 alone...but give him $500 for the rifle just in case.

Other than that I can't help you. But I'd go for it if I were you!  :D

Remington had a limited run of BDL’s in both 6.5mm and .350 Remington Magnum’s in 1969.  I bought my M700 BDL in .350 Remington Magnum about 9 months ago for $595.00 in NRA 98% or better condition(a leather gun case went with it).  This was the rifle Remington needed to chamber both of these rounds in, not the 600 or 660.  Lawdog

6.5 Mag Ammo is like Hen's Teeth to find, unless you piece them together yourself.  

The 600's and 660's are going at a premium on the Gun Auctions lately.  Why that is I have no clue.   I would suppose that if you found it in a BDL it would be worth a pretty good buck at retail prices, depending on condition.   If you found one NIB, alot more.   With the longer Barrel it would be much more suited for those particular calibers.

I'd snap it up if I were you.
