Brockmans pop-up peep site
« on: June 14, 2005, 06:00:21 PM »
I finally got my 375 decked out.  I had been planning to put it into a mcmillan stock but new brakes all around caused me to settle for a hogue overmolded stock.  It actually has a really good feel to it.

I got a set of brockmans pop up peep scope mounts.  I am really impressed with them, they look great and the peep is just about perfect.  The peep lines up automatically without and searching, just throw it to your shoulder and there it is, all lined up.  I put a set of medium talley quick detachable rings and my 3-12 burris black diamond scope.  I had originally wanted to put a 2-7 leupold Euro on it but the scope was too short for the leupold.  I think that the 3-9 Euro will barely fit but have to check it out.

I have the peep sited in with 300gr partitions at 2500fps to be dead on at 100 yards and the scope is sighted in for the 260gr Accubond.  This way I can shoot the accubonds for moose/carabou at longer ranges and take the scope off and have the big boys for close in work  like hauling out meat or hunting in the thick stuff.

For those of you with winchester classics I would highly recomend that you check this mount system out.

I know this is an old post, but I thought I would ask anyway. Did you pickup that winchester in Anchor town, if so what shop and can you tell me approx what you paid.
I think we have a lot of the same guns, marlin GG 45/70, ruger special edition 35 whelen, ruger SS 338. I would think that a lot of people up here have the same guns or at least the same calibur.
I see on the brockman website that those bases are a little spendy at $ 125 bucks does that include rings. What diid you do with the rear sight on your winny.

45North

I picked it up at Great northern guns here in anchorage,  I think I paid around 750 for it, can't remember exactly.   It has proven to be a very accurate rifle, especially after putting it into a hogue overmolded stock.  THe only thing about it I am planning on changing is the weight,  it weighs about 11 pounds and that can be fairly heavy on a long hunt on foot.   I'm thinking about getting it fluted and possibly cut down to 20-22",  I think the McMillan stock will shed a few ounces too.

I really can't say enough good things about that brockmans peep, excellent sight.  I think talley has come out with the pop up peep bases too and might be worth checking out.  I'd say it was easily worth the price.  I took the factory rear sight right off.  I have shot it quite a bit with just the peep and it easily shoots sub 2" groups at 100 yards.   The scope I have on it is quite large but it was the only one I had that was long enough for the rather long scope base spacing.

It sounds like you have good taste in guns
