Closing in the Bow
« on: June 15, 2005, 07:08:55 AM »
I'm wanting to make a platform that will close in the bow of my 14' aluminum fishing boat.  I want it to be flush with the front bench seat and enclose the entire front "triangle" if you will.

I want it to be a flat platform that you can stand on and then have a trap door to access underneath for storage.

I was just planning on making it out of 3/4" plywood and then covering it with some outdoor carpet but I'm still hung up on how to attach it to the boat because it needs to be removable.

Has anyone else done this or does anyone know if you can buy something like this?

I haven't seen it too much but the one I did see was held into the gunwhale by the spring loaded quick disconect screws like on airplane wings...I would also think that one could use the cotter pin/quick diconnect like the race car hoods have...Most of the guys just use a canvas cover over the bow.

Hope that helps for ideas...
