TO THEY HUNT CHEETAHS IN AFRICA?

I have never hunted them, but have heard of them being hunted. If I recall, the fees are quite expensive.

They are protected under CITES appendix I.  There are quotas.  Some info may be found at:

Particularly, they list quotas:

Legal Status: The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service lists the cheetah as an Endangered Species. It is protected under CITES, Appendix I which bans international commerce but quotas for trophies are provided to Namibia (150), Botswana(5) and Zimbabwe (50). In the IUCN Red List, cheetahs are listed as a Vulnerable species. There are an estimated 9,000 - 12,000 cheetahs in the wild, with the largest population (2,500) being found in Namibia.

As DanP pointed out, Namibia has the highest quota for CITES permits.  These allow you to bring trophies back into the U.S.  Trophy fees for Cheetah in Namibia are about the same as for Leopard.  If you're interested, here's a link to Namibian ranches/safari outfits.  Some offer Cheetah.
