Value for Browning 1885 "Friends of NRA" Rifle
« on: June 18, 2005, 03:56:32 AM »
Greetings,

I picked up a Browning 1885 "Friends of the NRA" Auction rifle a couple weeks ago at a gun show.  This thing is NIB with all the gold inlays, etc.  What's this thing worth?

Anyone got an 1885 shooter in mint condition (preferably 7mm Mag) that they'd like to trade (along with some cash) for this thing?

Shooter or collector

I paid slightly less than that for mine.  It seems that these are going for less than the production rifles went for in their day.  Does that mean this thing is more of a fancy shooter than a collector?

Generally speaking none of the Friends of NRA or DU auction guns go for much if any more than a standard model of same gun. Once fired they go for no more. Just doesn't seem to be any collector interest in those categories.

I agree with Graybeard, they are just fancy shooters

Thanks for the responses.  Sounds like I got me one cool shooter.  Can't wait to put a scope on it.
