SAM 1911 in .45 ACP
« on: June 19, 2005, 01:51:44 AM »
What can you guys tell me about the SAM (Shooting Arms Manufacture) 1911 pistol made in the Philiipines. Now before anyone goes and starts spouting off that it is junk because it sells for half of what USA brand 1911s sell for with out owning one and putting thousands of rounds through it, then save your breath. I would like an objective opinion from some one who has actually held one owned one, and shot one over & over again. Sorry for the pre-qualifier, but I see people all the time spouting opinions based on feeling and heresay, and not experience.
Thanks for any help!!

There is a few different 1911's that use the same frame one of them is the Charles Daley and I think there are 3 manufacturers in all.  I have been eyeing them too.  I have had bad luck with colts anyway after two bad ones i bought a Springfield armory 1911 but i want to ge ta few more so i have been looking at the S.A.M. too.  If you look at gunsamerica they have them dirt cheap and they are brand new from a dealer too.  I hope we hear about experiences from owners too.                  BigBill

BigBill,

You are correct. I have been told that the same manufacterer makes the Rock Island Arms, and Charles Daly. The difference is that the finish on the SAM is more of a rough parkerized or matte finish.
