Without wads, it's not going to make the same sharp crack as a ball loaded revovler makes...but the wads by themselves are dangerous for a good distance...could seriously hurt asomeone in side of 15 feet by just a wad.

Proably the best way if you are not pointing the gun at people or things you'd not like to destroy is a good compressed layer of corn meal.

Now I have to warn you...once the blank powder starts toburn, if the muzzle is pressed up against something, the gas has two choices:
1. blow the revolver to shrapnel
or
2. Blow a hole big enough to let the gas escape in whatever substance the barrel is pressed up against.
--------
DO NOT USE PYRODEX PELLETS FOR BLANKS!!! Won't happen ever time, but occasionaly will ssend the pyrodex pellet shooting off like a roman candle.

Try a half cylinder of powder, top cylinder with cream of wheat, then ram hard.  Top again with cream of wheat and again ram hard.
Plenty of smoke and flash, loud report, thousands of tiny weightless bits blown to the scattering wind.

All things considered, probably the best use for cream of wheat....understnad some people actually eat the stuff.

:)   Best use of 'Cream of Wheat' I've heard of since elementary school art class - 'paper mache'.
In the Navy, some silly Yankee mess cranks tried to pawn it off on us southern boys as 'grits'!  Almost got themselves keel-hauled.

Maybe use a bit of your favorite grease to hold it in the chamber?

Double packed like that, I have never had a load fall out.
If you have a Navy in .44, chances are the ram is still .36, so this method will not work.
