There are a lot of 39-2s out there.  They were used by a lot of police departments.  As a result prices are generally pretty low.  A really mint one could bring $350, and ones in the condition you describe regularly sell for $275.  Not having seen the gun, but just going on your description, $250 is probably a good fair price, but not a super bargain.  Since there are so many of them out there, there are bargains to be had.  I picked up my 98-99% 39-2 for $195 just a couple of months ago.

dispatch 510,

That price seems very good for my area.

How many mags come with gun?  Are mags equipped with metal or plastic followers?

It there a box.

A box will sell for $20 and up on eBay and the mags will hit $40 for one with a metal follower.  The plastic followers will brig $15-20.

My point is that if you have 5 mags included and original box this is a STEAL.  If it is gun only with one mag and it has a plastic follower...you get my point.

When I get back home I will post the birthday of gun for you.

Terry,

By disassemble do you mean field strip to clean or to tear completely down?

If you want to field strip it is fairly easy, and S&W will send you a manual if you ask them.

If you want to do a complete tear down I can recommend a book.  In fact this book will tell you both, it covers hundreds of semi auto pistols.  I used it last night to tear down a 4013 tactical.

Let me know if you need advice to field strip or the name of the book to detail strip.
