Could someone give me a reaload that works in My BAR and Rem 7400 in 06 with 150 grn bullet. that is accurate,fast and will operate the rifle reliability with out tearing the rifles apart.

What may work in one may not be the best one for the other. What have you used that not working for you I handload for a a 7mm mag BAR and a .30-06 Rem 742 using std loads with out tearing the rifles apart.

Start with 48 grains of IMR 4895 and work up to not more than 49 grains and down to around 47 and see what you can get.

Medium powders with medium speeds are the name of the game with semi-autos.

For the .06, 4895, 4064, Win 748 are good basic choices - stay away from the slowest and fastest powders recommended for the caliber and keep the speeds 100 to 200fps below max.

Do this, and your operating system will thank you and the gun will reward you with great shooting.

BTW, the gas system DOES need cleaning from time to time too.......every 300rds is a good gauge to go by.

Oh also, for Semi handloading................... make sure to full-length resize your cases and set the primers slightly below the case head - this will make sure you have no issues with your rounds feeding and being safe.

Thanks, it was the powder thing that had me hung up. I just didn't know what kind to use. I just want to try and get faactory speeds. I haven't reloaded for a semi before but both ar o6's and I have small base dies. I have 4064 and 748 but have never tried 4895. I got sticker shock at Wally's a few days ago when I went to buy a few boxes of shells for my son's new 7400 to try. It turnes out the Remington 150 corelock shot very verll. My Bar shot anything you put in it, extremely well.

Country Boy - I know you asked about 150 gn bullets but I think you may have a much wider selection going 15-30 gns heavier. Don't know what size the whitetail run in your neck of the woods but I find the heavier bullets (180s) tear up a lot less meat than the 150s. Also, with the heavier bullet it might be easier, I think, to find accurate reloading data ranges that would best suit your semi-autos.

I would also visit steves'pages for his insights on accurate loads for semis. HTH. Mikey.

I like the 165/168gr bullets in .308 & .06 over the 150s as well. 180 is the highest I would cosider, as heavier bullets can stress the Op system on a Semi just like the wrong powder or velocity can.

The Remington CoreLokts are NOT a bad bullet choice, even for handloading. They may not be the most aerodynamic or high dollar bullet around.............. but they have killed TONS of game over the years. A couple years ago, a buddy used the factory 150gr CoreLokt in .06 on a boar.............BOY did it do some damage, practically removed the opposing shoulder from the beast.
