Biggest reason for it is that it fits shorter actions such as the M48 mauser and its just short to a .375 H&H how about 2500fps with a 300gr bullet. Thats out of a case a half inch shorter than the H&H. Its a lot of power in a small package. I took the plunge and ordered the barrel, Its going to the smith in the AM.
It'll push a 225gr round at 2900fps most .35 whelen loads are pushing a 200gr round at 2650fps yep I'd say its out running a .35, It dos'nt have a parent cartridge it's not a wildcat, Stery designed it and a rifle for it. Hornady is makeing rounds and brass for it.
It being made on a shorter action allows for a more compact lighter rifle probably would work well in Alaska.
