iosso paste for bore polishing
« on: June 21, 2005, 05:30:35 PM »
I had put about 250 rds through my 308 ultra before I ever even heard of polishing a bore. I bought some iosso for an old shotgun and the result was WOW! after that I thought what the heck, and used it on my ultra. Fouling diminished alot, and fouling shots became almost moot. anyone else use this, and how does it compare to JB as far as grit?

Iosso, JB non embedding bore compound, USP are all pretty much the same. JB is commonly available as is Flitz, Simichrome and Maas fine metal polish....all will do a fine job, there's no secret,  just a matter of doing it before shooting the first time, doesn't hurt to do the chamber too, to avoid any stuck brass, the chambers aren't any smoother than the bores!

I just used some flitz on my 223 chamber and bore. Its great stuff, i thought i would never get a clean patch to come out the other end. It took awhile but it was well worth the effort.

I use JB and it works great. I am sure the others as Quick has  mentioned work just as well. I to also use it before I even fire a new barrel.
