Got my new Beeman home today..It's AWSOOOOOOME....and haven't got my scope for it yet...but I've been out back shooting at some pepsi cans set out at 46 yards on end...shooting the Beeman Crow Magnums...and Silver Bears...I'm not having a bit of a problem keeping them on the can...it did take me about 10 shots each to figure out where to hold with out any sights or scopes on it

...I'm sighting off the raised part where the sights would be ...

Here it is....

This is one is a keeper...

Yep, real nice. When you get a scope, make sure you do some measuring first. Some of the longer higher mag scopes don't fit well. They tend to block the breech. The pictures do show a known problem that the R-11 has- its a bit heavy on the muzzle end. Its balanced on the rest about 6 or so inches forward of the trigger. For most FT holds a gun should have the balance point only 2 or 3 inches ahead of the trigger to avoid being front heavy. Its possible to correct this by removing the butt plate, drilling a small hole in the end of the stock and adding about 6 or 7 oz of lead.
Silverbears may be a bit light for a .177 gun with that kind of power. You may want to use a slightly heavier pellet to avoid early spring or seal failure. A light pellet may not provide enough resistance for the spring, causing it to hit the end of the compression chamber, something like a dry-fire. This will damage the seal, the spring and eventually the gun itself. I'd use something in the 9 to 11 gr range. Crosman Premier heavies at 10.5 grams usually work well. Being heavier they will shoot a bit slower but energy levels will be a bit higher, with more retained energy down-range. I use them in my R-10, which has similiar power, and they shoot high 800s.

Actually the Crow Magnums shoot better than the Silver Bears...albeit somewhat slower...and the H&N Match shoot extreamly well at my 10 yard mark...so...Thanks for the tip ...

Yeah, the Silverbears are only 7.1gr, pretty light. That gun must be pushing them out at 950+, well above the point where aerodynamic stability becomes a problem. In .177 with pellets in the 7-9 gr range you don't want to go more than 850-875. The CMs are near 9gr, so are a bit more stable being somewhat heavier. H&N Match are 8 or 8.1gr wadcutters, good for 10 or 15 yards, but I think you'll find that at longer ranges they do tend to be a bit less accurate. The CMs may be less accurate too than a domed pellet like the Premier. The hollow points tend to pitch and yaw at range.

The grip and fore-end of the R-11 are stippled.

Well...I finally found time to do some chronographing on my small selection of .177 fodder.. these are all averages of 20 shots...

Beeman Silver Bears...avg...948 fps
Beeman H&N Match..hs....avg..895fps
Beeman Crow Magnums...avg 851 fps...
Crossman domed plinkers...avg...843 fps

This is all I have on hand right now...thinking of ordering some of those Logun penetrators from straight shooters...to give a try...anyone using these in a .177?

Got it scoped finally...I'm trying one not normally associated with AG's...I'm trying a Mueller Tacticle 4x16-50IGR/AO..here's how it looks..

I've been on the phone with Rich at Mueller a lot...and he will stand by his product...he says it's been tested on a few magnum class AG's without any failures so-far and he's sending some over to Straight Shooters for Kevin and Craig to test as well...so I figured I would give it a go...I've got it setting in a set of Beeman #5039 1pc mount that is windage and elevation adjustable...this is one heavy duty mount...

If you guys haven't looked thru one of these Mueller Scopes...you should...mines an illuminated mil-dot...etched reticle...and it focuses down to around 8-10 yards...It's super bright...and clear edge to edge...the mil-dots are very easy to see at all 11 power settings and without much Halo at nite with it

So-far I've got about 100 shots thru it and it is simple a awsome scope with ample eye-relief...and it makes shooting this rifle a real pleasure at ranges up to 55 yards so-far...the A/O is dead on the money...I checked it with my lazer range finder...and by my 100ft landscape tape measure...

I purchased it thru our sponser The Optic Zone...and John and Tammey who were a big help for this newbe of AG's...they are some super people to work with...answered all my dumb questions...and got my scope to me fast.fast.fast...as promised...My Hat is off to the both of them...

and I highly recomend you try them for your next purchase.

This rifle/mount/scope combo is just simply fantastic..and my limited testing has shown it likes a-lot of different pellets as well...I can't wait to try out some of those Logun Penatrators at 40-50 yards...just to see how well they group...

So...I'll be reporting back on how well the scope repeats...and hopefully I get a chance for some FT's with it.....if I can find any around here...

It is simply awsome...I ran the squares with the Mueller tacticle scope...dead on the money for returning at 20 yards...it took me a while to figure out how how to do this close with the 1/8 MOA clicks... :oops:...but it worked pretty good......I've put about 1100 down the tube so-far...and it has started to settle in nicely...no problems with the scope...knock wood..I've put a serious dent in the chipmunks population...and have shredded a bunch of cans... for a AG ...it is really sweet shooting,and consistant...I think I've finnally am getting the springer shooting down somewhat...and my over all groups are shrinking considerably...enough so...I'll be looking for some FT's this fall..

I'll be taking it over to the regular rifle range in the next couple of weeks when I start some serious bench work...I'll use it while I let my big guns cool off
