Hello, just purchased my first Encore in 22-250 and am looking forward to getting it out to the range. The pistol will be used for about 60% target and 40% varmint plugging. My question for all of you is do recommend a Harris type bipod mounted permanently or shooting sticks? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I use both. It really depends on where your shooting if the grass or bushes are high shooting sticks work better but for open land the bipod is great. Fox ridge sells a short swivel stud that fits the factory forends or georgia Jim,E.A. Brown and Bullberry will make custom forends for bipods.

I like the 27 in. Harris By-pods. They are just right for resting the but of the gun on your knee if your sitting on the ground. I would also suggest you get a trigger spring from Mike Belum and put it in. I got 2 that were 1 1/2 to 2 lb. and they turned out at about 6 oz. and 8 to 10 oz. I know hae 2 frames with excellant triggers.

I use homemade shooting sticks for both my pistol and rifle setup. You can swing the gun side to side with sticks its hard to do that with bi-pods, you have to pick them up and turn them with the gun, just to much movement for me. Thats my 2 cents.

If your really going to be shooting mostley off the bench the bipod is probably what you want. Theres no reason you cant have both though.
