Yep, I try to float a stream or two every year just for smallmouth, or whatever happens to be hungry for whatever I'm fishing with.
Hey, hold my beer and watch this.

Sure do.  I float the Cacapon River here is the eastern panhandle of WV 6 or 7 times a summer.  Wade it about 3 or 4 more.  Caught 24 smallmouth and rockbass last weekend on a float.
Give a man a fish, feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer with his buddies for a lifetime.

This isn't a beer gut!!  Its a feul tank for a sex machine!!

I grew up a river fisherman on the Upper Cumberland in Kentucky.  Mostly I float it in a jon boat or a 2 man plastic boat, but sometimes we wade it.  The smallmouth fishing in the river is incredible.  A 3 pound river smallie will sure give you a good fight.

:D We use to make several float (and drag) trips each spring down the Brazos River from the dam at Possum Kingdom Lake to I-20.  These trips were normally three days, stopping at deep holes to fish.  We would catch a few smallmouth , but mostly blackbass, white, and every now and then a good stripper.  Several times we set  jugs at night and caught some big cats.  We also made sever trips down the Rio Grande from Terlingua on the west side of Big Bend National Park, to La Linda on the east side of the park.  These trips lasted four-five days, and took us through rough and remote back area that could sometimes be very dangerous.  We quit going  when the Mexicans started firing on boats in the river.  We never carried a gun due to the possibility of having to face the Mexican military or police.

If I ever go back,  guess I'm going to have to enlist some younger friends, most of the old farts I use to go with say they are too old to do that anymore.

We do a lot of wading in small streams here in north-western virginia. Catch numbers of smallmouth, rock bass, chain pickeral, fallfish and so on. Also pulled some beautiful smallmouth wading the cacapon near Wardensville, WV.

Here in PA i fish yellow creek, a limestone trout stream, I wade fish the creek and have never seen another bass fisherman, I use some small spinnerbaits and smaller rapalas, but hellgramites work the best, its not uncommon to catch 20 over 12 inches in an evening, my biggest from the creek was 18 inches, and i dont feel bad about keeping a few since no one else fishes for bass there.

My favorite part of September. Tuckasegee river almost at Fontana Lake.
The river is so low right now they're concentrated in the deepest holes.

Grew up on Sacramento river and caught a few small mouth. Fished smallies on American river. Not great fishing but can always catch 1 or 3 every time out.

My favorite place to fish is in the large creek behind my farm. I catch a large variety of fish and have a great time.
