9mm vs. 40cal

Hello all,

I was thinking of getting a 40 cal slide to go along with 9mm slide for my beretta 92.  Is this a good idea, or are they pretty much the same cartridge in terms of ballistic performance? Accuracy?  I would handload for both, as I already do for the 9mm. I there a large selection of 40 cal bullets, as there are 9mm?  Any help/comments would be great.

If you're looking for more performance the 357 SIG has lots of power and uses 9mm bullets. You'd have to have a different slide for it as the case base is the same as a 40 S&W.

9mm...bullet weights available range from 88 to 158 grains.
10mm...bullet weights available range from 135 to 200 grains.

I totally bypass the .40 and 10mm...I go from 9mm to 45ACP, with a few .357's in the middle.
