Help with older models
« on: June 26, 2005, 05:25:36 AM »
Hi, Rolltide.
I inherited a DW, (it got me hooked). Could not Id. Found 1974 Guns & Ammo Annual, Dw listed as follows.
Model 11, (exposed barrel nut) 357 Mag, 38 sp.
  barrels, 2/ 1/2, 4, 6.  Satin blue $91.00

Model 12, same as 11, but adjustable rear sight.  Satin blue $110.00

Model 14, (flush barrel nut) 357 Mag, 38 Sp
  barrels 2/ 1/4, 3/ 3/4, 5/ 3/4. Satin blue $89.95, Nickle $99.95, matte nickle $105.00 (This is like mine in blue)

  Notice uneven barrel lengths.

Model 15, same as 14 with adjustable sight. Brite blue $118.5, nickle $128.5, matte nickle $133.5

All of above revolvers have dogleg or porkchop style shroud and made in Monsom Mass, evidently in 71 to 74. I think they moved to Palmer in 75.

Hope I hav'nt bored anyone, this ID'd my DW exactly, after a lot guesses from several fellow shooters.

Grizer,
Interesting info.  thanks for posting it.  One minor correction though.  Guns were only made in Palmer, MA between 1992 an 1995.

Hi, thanks for correction, I read several posts elsewhere, that Palmer guns quality had slipped due to worn manufacturing equipment.
  I'm in the market for 10" barrel & dogleg shroud. I have 2 1/4 and 6".
I've got extra hammer for 15 & trigger for 44.

Ebay has some barrels, grips, parts etc sometimes. I just purchased a 6" vented 357 mag barrel kit from Dan Wesson Arms for my 4" Model 15. Took approx 3 weeks from order to delivery.

Kit came with barrel, shroud and nut. Also purchased a wrench kit.

SEEMS WE'RE FOLLOWING EACH OTHER AROUND IN THESE TOPICS. I'M SURE CZUSA COULD MAKE YOU A BARREL AS THEY ARE DOING ALL THE WARRANTY WORK ON WESSONS, BUT AS BAUD357 SAID IT TAKES ABOUT THREE WEEKS AS THEY MAKE THE BARRELS TO ORDER, AND BE PREPARED TO PAY OUT THE NOSE. ALSO A SIDE NOTE, THE BARRELS WILL PROBABLY NOT MATCH ENTIRELY THE OLD ONES. I ORDERED A 8" FOR A MODEL 15 AND THE SHOULDER ON THE UNDERLUG WAS DIFFERENT THAN THE OLD BARREL SHROUD, ALSO THEY LASER INGRAVE THE CALIBER IN THE SHROUD AND FILL IT WITH WHITE PAINT, WHERE THE OLD ONES ARE STAMPED, AND BLUED.
