pyrodex weight or volume?

i used a bp charge bar set at 80,  the charge weighed 51gr. am i loading light? or is 51gr. of pyrodex as powerfull as 80gr. of bp?
 the charge bar was no dought made for bp.
 how do i get an equal charge of pyrodex?

Pyrodex is lighter but occupies the same space as 80gr. of black and will give like pressure and performance.  Actually, they went to a good bit of trouble getting it to bulk up to the same volume as black..and that's how it's used, volume for volume.


If you got performance you liked with the 80gr. charge of black, then the same volume of pyrodex should give about the same performance.

One of the original selling points of Pyrodex is that powder is sold by the pound, so by using less weight (but the same volume) end up getting more shots per pound.
