Pins and prizes....
« on: June 27, 2005, 04:39:27 PM »
Hey Guys,

Well it looks like we're gonna be getting our little silhouette club off the ground in Southern NY.  Now I have to scramble to get some pins even though they are all fun matches, guys are gonna want pins.

Where do you get them from and what is the deal with the colors?  I've been shooting for a few years now and I've never cared or bothered to ask but I want to have an answer in case someone at a match asks me.

I guess we'll have a club championship match and at that one we'll have some table prizes otherwise its pins and nice framable paper certificates.

Thanks for any help.

Billy

You can get them directly from the NRA, and there is a place in Congress, Az that sells them, called R&S.  PM me with your e-mail address and I will send you the info from R&S, or anyone else out there that is interested.  Jim

give me your address and i'll send you 30 or so pins.  i'll bet there a quite a few others out there that have pins to give up.  a few years ago i gave a club 200 pins.  with any luck you might not have to buy any at all.

As far as the colors go... Look on the inside page of your rule book and you will see a complete list of color and what class they are for. If you don't have a rule book, that may be a good starting point for some other questions that may come up as well.

Don't be surprised if your fun matches turn into more(while keeping the fun of course), this stuff is addicting!

Thanks guys, new rule book is on the way and thank you for the offer on the pins.  PM sent!

I know its addicting, I've been hooked since around 2000 or so.  Last weekend in CT it was close to 100 in the shade and I went into the match AAA with one Master score.  Well after the first two 26/40's I finally got the turkeys dialed in and I scored a 34/40.  So me and my buddy who was in the same boat as I looked over at the match director and ask if we could shoot just one more.  This is after shooting 120 shots with a factory HW-97 in 100 degree humidity without a more than a few minutes for a break.  Well he gave us the nod and we kept on going.  Thought I was gonna drop from dehydration on the ram line cause the sun slipped in though the tree canopy directly where I was shooting.  I didn't do as well as my previous score but I managed to shoot a 29/40 and I was in!  My buddy fell short by one animal.  We had a great time, I think I drank my weight in Gatorade on the way home!  I'm still sore!

Oh for colors I think we will keep it simple for the fun shoot.  Light blue for pistol, dark blue for rifle and one match champion.  If we go NRA next year we'll do it by the rules.  Stuff is in the mail from them today.

Thanks again,

Billy
