i used one the other day...never heard of that before. it was kinda like a finger tab but it strapped around both index and middle finger and had a strap to pinch the string with. all you doo is relax. i cant find one at all...i liked it. i think im gonna have one made. seems pretty simplistic.

i could see after getting used to it that it'd be a real asset and maintain consitency.

why? kind of goes against the whole idea of being traditional. use your fingers; keep it traditional.

next thing, you will be wanting to rig your recurve with wheels. talk about crazy!

If memory serves me right...I read in one of my archery magazines...something like this that was used by the turks on their recurves around 800.A.D.or maybe it was in a National Geographic...I'll have to do some digging on it and see if I can find the article...if so...I would think that more than qualifies it as Traditional...ehhhhh... :wink:

the one i tried was as simplistic a tool as one can find. the guy who owned it has had it for 45 years. im ok with fingers as well....but im not opposed to improving things either...but yeah i can see your point about keepin it simple and basic.

Memory does serve you correctly. The Turks use a horn release that they slipped their thumb through. There was a slight hook on one side of the horn loop and this was wrapped around the string.

Just for the record, they were some of the most feared archers in the world and the horn release was one of the reasons why. Iw was and is very accurate to use.
