I have shot two before with a .375 (Nosler Partition at 2 250fps) and the effect that I got wasn't nearly as spectacular as with the Marlin. On the bullet striking (the PH reckons he could see a white puff of dust on impact - something he's never seen before), the bull fell flat on it's side like a silhouette target. The PH used a descriptive four-letter word in amazement - and he is not a cursing man (the other two that I've taken with the .375 merely gave a little jump and ran headlong in front of the herd - they only slowed down after about 200 yards - we had to track them on the blood trail). After doing a complete roll, it stood up and slowly ran away from us - I didn't want to waste meat and shoot a follow-up Texas style. But that wasn't necessary. It went 15 paces and fell down, rolling unto it's back and giving a final bellow. The shot went high through the lungs and broke both the shoulder bones. Absolutely amazing stuff - given my prior experiences. Only problem is that I know need to find another job for my .375...
