PMP 223 AMMO

Has anyone tried the PMP 223 ammo imported from south africa? It is not remanufactured it is new stuff. I was hoping someone out there may have tried it in there Handi.

I had some SA stuff in 7.62X39 that I think was pmp.  It shot pretty good.

Last week I shot some pmp 303 brit and resized it for reloading along with some federal cases.  Was loading 43 grains of H4350 with a 180 bullet.  When I reload mixed cases I don't bother to separate them till the job is finished as long as they have all been TTL or are not getting crimped.

Well, charged the cases and noticed some were filled to the case mouth and some were below the shoulder :eek:   Threw several on the scale and they were all 43 grains (46 is max) :eek:   Turns out the filled to the brim was the pmp brass.

So, if you are a reloader, check the capacity of those PMP cases very carefully.  I'm certain that 43 grains in those 303 cases would have been an overload with the 180 bullet due to the capacity of the cases.

I shot the PMP 243 100gr soft point load in my handi and it turned out to be the most accurate factory load I found for that barrel.  It shot half inch 5 shot groups at 100 yards.  I haven't tried the 223 but I just purchased some 308 to try.

The PMP 303 Brit was accurate too.  If you plan to reload those cases, be sure to check the capacity first.  I'm certain that even a bit under max in the pmp cases would have caused a serious pressure problem with the pmp brass :eek:

I bought some today as a matter of fact. .223 FMJ. I only had my Bushmaster Varmiter at the range. My 44 mag. barrel is on my Ultra Varmit.
But at fifty yards they were putting them in there. Gonna go back to the range tomorrow and try them on the 100yd. I've only got 15 rnds. left. If they group well out of the AR-15 at 100 I'm going back next week and buy the Half case he has left. He told me he would let me have the remaning 500 rnds for $115.00, tax and all. Then I can try using them in the .223 bull barrel Ultra.

i think they are a very good round my local guy use too carry them in 45acp and they shot great , plus the brass seems to be a really good relaoder to be , ive reloaded them many times , but he said he cant getthe handgun stuff anymore???

I haven't tried them either, but I have heard good reports with PMP ammo. If someone caried it around here, I would love to try it out.

I use PMP 180 gr. Soft Points in the .303 British with very good results.  Consistant accuracy with each box.  I also use PMP 180's SP in in each of my .30-06's;  2 Handi's, Rem 700 and Mossberg ATR.  Both of the handi's shoot dead on at 100yds with PMP and Rem 180's with same scope setting.  The Mossberg seems to shoot everything I put in it well.  During hunting season, Dunhams has been selling them for about $9.99 per box, sometimes less, I believe the regular price is $14.99, if I recall correctly.  I havn't reloaded any yet, so I cannot comment on case capacity.  I havn't tried .223, but i'm anxious to try.

I'm not sure but I think I saw some PMP a long time ago at Ammo Depot in Mesquite, Texas.  I live in Oklahoma now and don't get by there any more.  If it isn't on the shelf, it can be ordered.  I usually found very good prices there.  A great bunch of guys.  Try shopping there.  I believe you will be pleased.
