Ammo is what your gun prefers. Every 22 is different and what one 7000 may like another may hate you have to try them all to see what your gun likes or at least try them until you find one that shoots good. As far as scopes go they are all about the same. Find the best deal you can on one and get it. I have owned all three brands and found them all satisfactory. Some will say get a Leupold and or Burris ect. Yea they are nice if you can afford them but the cheap glass these days work well for most purposes and intents. Jim
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

You can get a Bushnell 4 x 12 -40 with ajustable objective at Wal-Mart for $70. I have two of them on my H&R's, .22lr and .17 hmr. No problems at all with either one of them.

Look around and find a Simmons, Weaver, Leapers or whatever you like that will focus down to 25 yards or so(range normally shot by most rimfires).  Stay away from Bushnell & Tasco.  Bushnell bought Tasco out of bankruptcy and are only a very small footstep ahead of Tasco - which is JUNK, plain and simple.  I have two Bushnell variables that are brand new and basically useless.  One is a Trophy 6-18X 40mm #73-6184(the one Bushnell recommends for manum springer air rifles), the other is a Elite 5-15X 40mm #32-5154M and both have the same problem.  The power adjustment ring is so hard to move it takes both hands and a considerable amount of effort to change the power setting.  I called Bushnell on about this problem and was told the ring would wear in with use and that they wouldn’t replace them as nothing was wrong with them.  This was over two years ago and they are still in my reloading shed.  I take them out every time I go in there and work the setting rings and they are still require two hands to change the power setting.  I know a number of other hunters/shooters that have the same complaint with Bushnell’s.  Lawdog

Maybe the new Bushnell and Tasco's are not that good but I have never had a problem with the older ones of either brand. It sounds like Bushnell does not have a very good Customer service dept. Good thing to know. Jim

I like the Simmons 22Mag scopes for my rimfires, either 4x or 3x9 variable, retail is $39.95 and $49.95 at a local shop.  Nice clear optics for small game use and casual target shooting from 25-75 yards.

I also have a BSA 4x rimfire (not the tiny air rifle scope) and it is ok for most task, but the optics are not as clear as the Simmons scopes when it comes to early morning or late afternoon hunts.

Actually the BSA air rifle scope is the same size as their rim fire line.  Check http://www.bsaoptics.com/productlist.asp?ID=11&Cat_Name=airrifle22.jpg&Cat_Code=AR&Cat_Type=RFAM to see the complete line of BSA Air Rifle approved scopes.  A very good value for those seeking scopes for springer type air rifles that are on a budget.  I believe you meant the BSA Rimfire Series http://www.bsaoptics.com/productlist.asp?ID=21&Cat_Name=rimfire.gif&Cat_Code=FIR&Cat_Type=RFAM which are only approved for BB type and low powered air rifles.  Lawdog
