Got my Handi Back!
« on: June 30, 2005, 08:37:18 AM »
For those of you following my sad story re: my SS Handi (30-06) - it finally came yesterday. The barrel wouldn't close when loaded with a factory load. They issued a call tag on the 7th, got there on the 14th, shipped back on the 22nd, and arrived on the 29th. Little over three weeks door to door, all without any cost to me! Pretty good customer service...

Anyway, I took off the scope rail, bedded it with loc-tite, installed a leupold 3-9x40 on leupold rings, slapped an o-ring on the barrel stud, and it's ready to go.

Unfortunately, I just messed up my leg at work so the range test is going to be a couple of weeks away. The sad part of this whole thing is that I have a B.C. coming on monday... But, like I said before... this is much cheaper than my AR-15 affliction.

nope... no paperwork at all. The packing invoice just had "test fire" and $0.00 balance. i thought about emailing to ask what the problem was. I hate to call and talk to that receptionist, she scares me...

Yup, I'd email em, then whom ever answers the email can check with Jon the gunsmith there and find out exactly what the problem was... be sure to give em your frame serial number and your name and address, I think that makes it easy for em to check their records, although Jon should remember that one!!!

Man there is some working in CS that seem like they never had a good day or just act you're wasting their time when you call. I hate to call them for anything thats why i normally ask board members. Everyone here is more up to date than the people working there are.

A straight foreward kinda girl that's for sure. No B.S.ing at all either.
I too just recieved my Handi back yesterday-VERY glad to finally get it back....took a lot longer to get there and back home than yours though my friend.  (Total time= I am guessing 2 months sence my whole ordeal)I am glad they fixed it and returned it back to you as quick as they did.
It is a good thing to have your rifle back in arms, no doubt.

Read the FAQ sticky at the top of this list, it will explain the O ring which is used to partially float the barrel in the forend.

I went ahead and emailed customer service. Hopefully they'll respond with some more info...

Yeah, whatever grinch they have working in CS is absolutely horrible to deal with. After I explained my problem to her, I had the audacity to ask for a call tag for shipment back to H&R. While she complied, I certainly paid for asking.

However, I must say that I was pleasantly pleased with the turnaround. I swore off H&R after I found the flaw in my barrel, but their quick turnaround earned them my BC sale.

Yep she is a peach. I called there a few times and talked with one of the guy or guys I can't remember names, but they were pleasant to talk to. Your handi dose look pretty nice though and glad to see you have it back.
