i have an ultra in .223 with a 1:12" twist and i am curious since i just had a .308 heavy barrel mated to my ultra..what the rate of twist on the .308's is..and if any bullet works better in it that others..just like i had to get with 55gr or lighter in .223 for the 1 in 12....

The 308 is listed a 1 in 10.

i do not reload..so is there a particular grain of bullet to start with like i did with the .223 by starting at 55 or lower...or should i just try 150's on up?

Call the Mfg ,,, they will have all the numbers on that .308 Barrel for you / good things to know.

Calling H&R for info is a hit or miss experience in most any Handi-holic's experience here, I'd recommend you email them, costs nothing and you're more likely to get an informed response. It's listed in the FAQ as 1:10", but to confirm it, I'd email them before I wasted my money on a call to an uninformed receptionist. I've emailed them numerous times, they always respond the following business day.
