First, I have recently purchased a remington model 700 sps dm in a 7mm-08 with a 24 inch barrel. At the range the first bullet i have used is the hornady 139 gr spire point and have been very successful. On the other hand, i am now ready to try reloading.i purchased a lee aniversary kit reloader and have read books upon more books about this hobby. i was doing perfectly fine until i reached the choice of powders and suddenly got lost. The bullets that i shot at the range are all frontier cases with the same lot numbers and the cases have been fireformed to my gun. the game will be deer that i shoot at and it will be at nice distances.
i would like to know if anyone can help me on a powder choice. maybe someone has a load that has worked well for them. any information would be helpful.
One more thing i am not sure about is crimping the neck. must this be done? will affect accuracy? how hard should it be crimped or am i going to have to experiment my self knowing now all loads are the same from gun to gun. I also know that all loads should start 8-10% less than that given and be aware of pressure.
so if anyone can give me any sort of helpful information on powder choice or a load they have made themselves to get me started that would be greatly appreciated. (doesn't have to be same gr or bullet for that matter)
thanks in advance for your knowledge and time.
