Seating depth on vmax

I am a beginning to load my first ammunition.  I have 55 gr vmax bullets that I am am going to load in 22-250.  I have a question on whether or not you include the the polymer tip on the OAL.  When I include it there is a lot excess room.  When I don't include it the bullet is close to the rifling but the OAL is long by the length of the red tip.

OAL is generally given so that your ammo will fit into any rifle magazine. It is not nessasarilly the best dimension for your gun. I try and seat the bullets at about .035" from touching the rifling. Several guns I own wont allow me to do this because of deep chamber throats. If you are going to use these in a magazine then you will most likely have to abide by the OAL spec in your manual. If not you have much more room to "play" with the OAL. Oh, Yes the OAL printed in the manuel includes the tip.  KN

Just as an aside, what is the twist rate of your barrel? From my experience unless its less than 1:14 you may have trouble stabilizing the 55 gr. Vmax in mild to cold weather. The 55gr. Bal. Tip will not stabilize in my 22-250 at less than 10 degrees C.
