The Nosler 160 grain partitions...that is...just curious as to how they performed if you have...

My guess is that lots of elk have been taken with 160 gr. bullets but for my money the 180s or 200s are a better bet.

Are you asking about the .270 bullets? I'm sorry, but I don't have an answer for you but Nosler says this bullet was developed with Alaskan moose hunters in mind.

I would prefer to use the Barnes copper bullets because they have the best penetration and weight retention, and also have reliable expansion.

Yes...That's the one I'm talking about...the Nosler .277 160 grain partition...

I've not had a-lot of luck getting any of the regular Barnes bullets to group..and...I've yet to try some of the triple shocks for the 270 ...I guess I'll have to load some up and try it later on this month and just see how they do...

I'm gonna GUESS that they would work well. I killed several elk using a 160gr NP but that was with a 7RM. Still, if you are getting 24-2600fps from your .270, they should do a number on an elk. That extra weight of metal certainly isn't gonna hurt you.

When I went pronghorn hunting last year the outfitter had no reservations about using a .270 for Wyoming elk. This was an experienced no-nonsense man that has been in the business for a long time. Most of his hunts are for pronghorn, mule deer, and elk. This kind of advice means a lot in my decision of what to use. We didn't get into bullet weights or anything, just the cartridge.
